The Democrats are in a quandary. They’re perplexed by a problem of their own making.

How can they deal with an endorsement from the Iranian Revolutionary Guard Corps calling on Americans to vote for Democratic candidates in the November mid-terms? This is too delicious. I wish I had made it up, but I didn’t.
I’ve lost count of the War Powers Resolution bills that the Dems have offered to end the Iran war abruptly. They have all failed — not because Americans recognize the legitimacy of the war against Iran’s nuclear weapons — but because Republicans have managed so far to kill the bills.
It should be enough for the American voters to see the Democrats in an act of ultimate disloyalty. But … it will not be. The Iran war is a distant concern to them.
Kamala Harris is among the presidential contenders who oppose the Iran war. In Illinois, Lt. Gov. Juliana Stratton and U.S. Rep. Robin Kelly — contenders to succeed Sen. Dick Durbin — have both promised to vote against further funding for the Iran war.
Michigan Senate candidate Abdul El-Sayed said he didn’t want to comment on Ayatollah Khamenei’s death because “there are a lot of people in Dearborn who are sad today.” When confronted by a student whose family was persecuted by the Tehran regime, El-Sayed responded by arguing that the United States has too often acted as “the world’s policeman” while saying he supported movements for democracy and freedom abroad. As if there is any democracy or freedom in Iran.
Rep. Raja Krishnamoorti (D-Chicago) said the war was illegal and unconstitutional.
On September 29, the IRGC sent a very long letter to the American people urging them to vote against any candidates backed by President Trump because he and Israel were the cause of the war. The letter also claimed that the Iranian nuclear program was entirely peaceful and that the IRGC was not a terrorist group, writing that there was not, “a single verifiable instance where the IRGC has committed an act of violence against civilians.”
The IRGC has been the principal terrorist arm of the Tehran regime. It controls Iran’s ballistic missiles and its terrorist proxy forces such as Hamas and Hizballah. They are responsible for Iran’s attacks on oil tankers and much more.
The IRGC are the first to line up to chant “death to America” and to force others to chant the same. The IRGC has committed thousands of murders of Iranian civilians as well as attempted assassinations of dissidents in other countries. The Iranian nuclear program has even been condemned by the UN’s International Atomic Energy Agency for enriching uranium far beyond what would be required for a nuclear power plant.

So what can the Democrats do? They cannot go against their candidates who speak out in favor of Iran so they — the national “leaders” of the Party — remain silent.
But who are the Democrats’ leaders? California Gov. Gavin Newsome has ripped Mr. Trump on the Iran war. Former vice president Kamala Harris has done the same.
Sen. Bernie Sanders (I-Vt) has condemned the war as illegal and unconstitutional as has Rep. Alexandria Ocasio Cortez (D-NY). Illinois Gov. J.B. Pritzker (D) has condemned the war saying it was “illegal” and demanded that the troops be brought home. If there are other “leaders” of the Democratic Party they have remained silent.
These remarks are conclusive evidence — given the silence of other Dems — that the Democrats support Iran and not America.
As long as the Democratic leaders remain content with their condemnations of the Iran war there is no element of sanity in the Democrats. They are rabid in their opposition to Mr. Trump and offer no solutions to the war other than ending it.
It should be enough for the American voters to see that the Democrats have nothing more than condemnation of Mr. Trump and to vote for the candidates Mr. Trump backs. It won’t be. Mr. Trump is in the fight of his life in the mid-terms. If he doesn’t win across the board — keeping the House and the Senate — he will be a very lonely guy. He will be impeached again and will have to oppose more War Powers resolutions on the Iran war that seek to end it abruptly. And he may lose one of those votes.
The president has said that the war in Iran will be over shortly after the mid-terms. But how can it be? If we don’t destroy the Iranian regime they will, certainly, go back to their pursuit of nuclear weapons. They will continue to sponsor terrorism around the world.
It should be enough for the American voters to see the Democrats in an act of ultimate disloyalty. But, as this column has already said, it will not be. The Iran war is a distant concern to them. They are concerned with what Joe Biden used to call “kitchen table” issues such as the price of gasoline and food, the flow of which will be slowed — and grow more expensive — by the price of diesel fuel.
If the American voter is more concerned with those issues than with the Iran war Mr. Trump will lose the mid-terms and be isolated politically. They may vote exactly how the IRGC said they should.
