Democrats Lust for Violence - National Logistics Post

The Newsmax headline was blunt. It read: “Study: 44% of Dems OK With Violence to Stop Trump”

The news story reported:

A quarter of American adults — including 44 percent of self-identified Democrats — say they support the use of force to prevent President Donald Trump from being president, according to a new survey’s findings described by University of Chicago political scientist Robert Pape.

Pape is also warning that the 2026 midterm elections could produce a level of political violence not seen in the U.S. in decades — and, under a worst-case scenario, could become “the most violent election in American history.

Well now. What to make of this? A full 44 percent of Democrats standing up for what is, in effect, a violent coup to overthrow the elected president of the United States? (RELATED: Bullet Points and Blind Spots)

So says this poll.

Offhand — what’s new?

The underreported fact of history is that the Democratic Party is, in fact, trailing a long record of political violence.

Take a trip down history’s memory lane.

A hard historical fact is that the Democratic Party in its beginning days was historically aligned with, yes, the Ku Klux Klan. Indeed, it was notable that prominent Democrats of the day were members of the routinely violent Klan. That list includes, but is not limited to:

Alabama U.S. Senator and later Supreme Court Justice Hugo Black
Mississippi U.S. Senator Theodore Bilbo
Georgia U.S. Senator Joseph Brown
West Virginia Senator and Senate Democrat Leader Robert Byrd

The list goes on, with some 40 Democrat pols at the federal, state, and local levels officially recorded as having Klan ties. And again, the Klan was well known for its addiction to violence.

But there was more to the Left and its addiction to violence.

A look back at the 1960s and one finds that whether it was rioting leftists at the 1968 Democrat Convention in Chicago or young leftists rioting against the Vietnam War on various college campuses through the 60s and beyond, not to mention riots in Democrat urban strongholds like Newark, Detroit, and New York, the historical record shows an American Left addicted to violence when protesting for their cause of the moment. This time around, the excuse for left-wing violence is, but of course, Donald Trump.

It must be noted that Trump is not the first president whose occupancy of the White House has been used as an excuse by Leftist activists to commit violence. Previous Presidents Nixon, Reagan, and both Presidents Bush (not curiously, Republicans) all faced violent protestors during their terms of office. Notably, in the Nixon era, when in 1970 the president announced in the middle of the Vietnam War that he was sending American troops into Cambodia to assist American troops already on the ground, he was barely off the TV air when Leftist violent protestors were not only in the streets but swarming college campuses. In fact, four protesting students at Ohio’s Kent State University were shot and killed by the National Guard as violent anti-war protests erupted.

On and on — and on and on — has gone this Leftist addiction to violence, using one cause or another as their excuse. Here are two:

Environmental violence. As CNN reported here in 2023: “Climate activist group Extinction Rebellion is best known for its attention-grabbing tactics. Activists have blocked roads and bridges, glued themselves to trains, smashed bank windows and sprayed fake blood over buildings.”

CNN went on to report:

“Extinction Rebellion — widely known as XR — said it had made the “controversial resolution” to temporarily abandon tactics of mass public disruption, just as other climate groups plan to scale them up.”

Pro-Abortion violence. Then there’s violence directed at pro-lifers from supporters of abortion. As reported here at Fox: “EXCLUSIVE: There have been 22 times more attacks against pro-life groups since the leak in early May of a draft Supreme Court opinion overturning Roe v. Wade compared to attacks on pro-choice organizations, new data show.”

There’s more out there in the way of left-wing violence. It is safe to say that what can never be forgotten is the assassination of conservative activist Charlie Kirk by a left-wing fanatic.

But the obvious here.

Whether the issue is climate change, abortion, Charlie Kirk giving speeches on a college campus, or President Trump appearing somewhere, or, in the day, the Vietnam War, the hard fact of life is that the American Left is all too willing to use violence to get its political way.

Sooooo. Getting back to where we started?

The fact that “44 percent of self-identified Democrats say they support the use of force to prevent President Donald Trump from being president” is exactly the latest page in a Democrat, decidedly un-American playbook that calls for violence to achieve its political ends.

Suffice to say: Not good at all.

And it’s more than past time for Democrat leaders to stand up and say their party’s seeming lust for violence must come to a full stop.
