You’ve heard this narrative out of Ohio over the weekend, right? That the Democrats’ candidate for governor of that state, Amy Acton, who’s in a close race with Vivek Ramaswamy at the moment, was attacked by a right-wing lunatic?

Of course you have. It’s a really big deal — if you listen to the legacy corporate propaganda press.
For example, The Hill…
An armed man lunged at Ohio gubernatorial candidate Amy Acton (D) during a Canfield, Ohio, fair on Sunday, injuring several other attendees.
Acton’s campaign shared a statement after the incident, which took place at around 2:30 p.m. at the annual Canfield Fair, located in a Youngstown suburb, NBC News reported. The Mahoning County Sheriff’s Office told the outlet they have 38-year-old Patrick Havas, a Canfield resident, in custody in connection to the incident.
“While attending the Canfield Fair, an armed individual lunged at Dr. Acton, injuring multiple people. Dr. Acton and Eric are grateful for the swift, decisive action of law enforcement and are praying for the recovery of those injured,” campaign communications director Addie Bullock said in the statement, referring to Acton’s husband, Eric Acton.
“This kind of violence has no place in Ohio,” Bullock continued. “Dr. Acton will always stand up to this chaos, hate and vitriol that pits us against one another.”
Acton was not hurt and remained at the fair to attend to those injured in the attack.
Gerry Ricciutti, a spokesperson for the Mahoning County Sheriff’s Office, told NBC that Havas approached with a cellphone set up to record Acton as she spoke at the Mahoning County Democratic Party tent. He said Havas pushed through the crowd before Acton’s security detail and Ohio State Highway Patrol troopers approached him, as two people fell to the ground.
Police recovered two handguns and brass knuckles on the scene, though the man did not wield any of these items in the confrontation, they said.
Gosh. Sounds serious.
I mean, not really. It’s not like Butler, or what happened to Lee Zeldin when he was running for governor of New York. But Serious, You Guys.
But then…

So….
…no charges?
You mean Amy Acton spent the whole weekend collecting bouquets from other Democrat politicians who were decrying the Political Violence Of The Right, and… nothing actually happened?
What say you, Mark Kelly, Vicarious Murderer Of Baby Seals?
I just spoke to Amy Acton. She’s tough. There’s no place in our society for political violence. An issue that unfortunately Gabby and I are very familiar with. I want to thank law enforcement for stopping this attack. Perpetrators of political violence must be brought to justice. https://t.co/ZACzUq12RZ

Oh. Guess that didn’t age so well, did it?
How about you, Kamala Harris?
I am horrified by yesterday’s attack on Amy Acton in Ohio and grateful for the the actions of law enforcement and others who helped — including Dr. Acton herself, who stayed to help attend to the injured.
Political violence has no place in our nation. People must be safe to… https://t.co/RlNp1g0Lof

Le sigh.
This gag is growing whiskers. It’s beyond old at this point. Is there anybody who doesn’t recognize the Jussie Smollettization of American politics by people who are actively siccing lunatics on people who dissent from their views? (RELATED: Now We Know What ‘Maximum Warfare, Everywhere, All the Time’ Means)
Wasn’t it earlier this year when Ilhan Omar staged an “attack” on her person to distract from her role in the Somali piracy that was going on in her “community”? (RELATED: Dear Pam Bondi: Throw All the Books at Ilhan Omar’s Attacker)
Well, gosh, I think it was.
Other than outlets like The Hill, does anybody give these guys the benefit of the doubt anymore? PJ Media’s Matt Margolis sure doesn’t. Margolis lit into Acton and her campaign on Tuesday, and rightly so…

None of them waited for the sheriff’s report. None of them checked the facts first. They ran with a fake version of events because the story fit a narrative they’d already decided to sell.
So, why did the Acton campaign play the victim here? That’s easy to figure out.
Acton is locked in a dead-heat race against Republican Vivek Ramaswamy. The most recent poll has Ramaswamy up three points, though Acton clings to a 0.3-point edge in the RealClearPolitics average. A race that tight needs a catalyst to generate a wave of anger, enthusiasm, donations, and a base fired up enough to show up on Election Day.
On top of that, Democrats have tried desperately since the assassination attempts on Donald Trump and the assassination of Charlie Kirk to convince the country that political violence is a “both sides” problem.
Make no mistake about it, the Acton campaign made a desperate move here and the New York Times, of all outlets, just handed everyone the receipts proving the campaign lied.
But why drop this load of fertilizer? It won’t pay off.
One theory is that Havas, the guy not charged for the “assault” on Amy Acton, was trying to record her while everybody else agreed to turn off their cameras — for a specific reason.
This being the reason…
Ummm… is the Democrat nominee for Governor of Ohio drunk?

Oy. Cooter Brown, call your office.
And wait…
Amy Acton was slobbering drunk at an Ohio campaign stop on Saturday, so her campaign came up with a fake story about an armed “MAGA guy” trying to attack her!

Are you cringing yet? Well, how about this?
🚨 There is still no documented proof of a man “attacking” deranged lunatic Amy Acton
This is yet again another Democrat hoax to save a failing candidate.
This woman is clearly deranged or drunk. Who would attack her? Nobody. pic.twitter.com/ft2rYre1tN

It gets better. The campaign claims she “assisted” with treating the injured after the “attack.”
Ohio Democrat Gubernatorial candidate @amyactonoh Amy Acton claims to be a doctor. After she was accused of being drunk at her own campaign events this weekend, the media is running staged stories about how Amy supposedly “assisted with two medical emergencies at the Labor Day… https://t.co/XoXsYEJIsr pic.twitter.com/kZeVYt1LfF

I guess her breath was used as antiseptic? Who can say without the video?
Which was the point.
Patrick Havas hasn’t spoken out, but I’ll wager that if and when he does, he’ll say that the campaign tried to get people to stop recording their pie-eyed candidate, and he was jostled by some of their unhinged followers when he persisted, and since he’s a big guy, he jostled them right back, which earned him a dose of crybullying and a questionable arrest.
Meanwhile, the video of Wasted Amy Acton Who Is Fun At Parties But Might Not Quite Have Top-End Leadership Potential got out anyway.
It’s too bad Ramaswamy has made himself such a heavy lift among so many in his own party. He’d be up 30 on Plastered Amy.
But if this is the Democrats’ strategy for winning news cycles over Labor Day, something tells me Vivek hit the lottery anyway.
Our politics has become satire. Idiocracy has officially become a documentary. This isn’t a city council race — it’s for governor in one of the most populous states in the country, and one of the candidates is so drunk at a speaking event in the middle of the day that they’ve got to stage a full-on Reichstag Fire just to keep the folks from noticing.
