One observer in the long ago, supposedly given the chance to invest in inventor Henry Ford\u2019s new \u201chorseless carriage,\u201d had this to say about the oncoming revolution of horses being replaced by automobiles \u2014 aka \u201cthe horseless carriage.\u201d The quote?<\/p>\n

\u201cThe horse is here to stay, but the automobile is a passing fad.\u201d<\/p>\n

Well now. To say the least, who was this prognosticator sharing his wisdom on the future as seen from the increasingly car-swamped 20th century?<\/p>\n

Whoever it was, he got it wrong. Big time. One hopes he recovered his investment.<\/p>\n

This bit of Americana comes to mind as there are increasingly headlines like this one about what Americans are coming to know as \u201cAI\u201d \u2014 Artificial Intelligence.\u00a0(RELATED: AI Won\u2019t Ruin Civilization \u2014 Unless We Let It)<\/strong><\/p>\n

Over there in\u00a0Forbes,<\/i> readers will find this typical headline: \u201cAI Is Here To Stay: How To Adapt, Thrive And Lead.\u201d<\/p>\n

The\u00a0Forbes<\/i>\u00a0story reports:<\/p>\n

Artificial intelligence (AI) was considered to be a futuristic dream, and it\u2019s now in our daily lives. Movies like Terminator and I Robot, as well as books like George Orwell\u2019s 1984, are starting to feel less like fiction and more like reality. Surveillance cameras in the streets, stores and even our homes are increasingly commonplace. Whether or not we are aware of it, AI is already changing the way we live, communicate and work.<\/p>\n

From smart assistants like Siri and ChatGPT to more complicated applications in healthcare, banking and autonomous vehicles, AI is no longer a far-off idea but a reality of today.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n

But\u00a0\u00a0Forbes\u00a0<\/i>has a caution for its readers, saying: \u201cHowever, as AI continues to creep into our lives, it is necessary to know why AI is here to stay and why accepting it is necessary for us to move forward.\u201d<\/p>\n

Forbes\u00a0<\/i>itself is a sterling example of accepting both a dreamer of dreams and his dreams themselves. In this case, they were the dreams of one Bertie Charles Forbes \u2014 or \u201cB.C.\u201d as he was known. Young B.C., as the story goes, immigrated to America \u2014 New York City \u2014 from his native Scotland. And in 1917 he took the leap of faith of a typical immigrant dreamer, in this case launching his own publication, Forbes<\/i>\u00a0magazine.<\/p>\n

The\u00a0Forbes\u00a0<\/i>story, per its history found here, is utterly American. It is a tale of ups and downs as the Forbes family went about finding a stable journalistic-business footing. But find its way it did.<\/p>\n

All of this comes to mind, as previously mentioned, as one finds headlines like this one in\u00a0Forbes<\/i> itself: \u201cAI Is Here To Stay: How To Adapt, Thrive And Lead.\u201d<\/p>\n

As with the horse being replaced as common transportation by Henry Ford\u2019s horseless carriage? That was a dream other inventors of the day helped make true as well. Inventors with names like Louis-Joseph Chevrolet, the Dodge brothers, Enzo Ferrari, Karl Benz, and others.<\/p>\n

Now Americans in the early 21st century, relatively used to the world of computers, rockets to the moon, Mars and elsewhere, are being ever so gently nudged into the world of \u201cArtificial Intelligence\u201d \u2014 or \u201cAI\u201d as it is now called.\u00a0(RELATED: The New AI Job-Displacement Target: Surgeons?)<\/strong><\/p>\n

Again, here is that key sentence from\u00a0Forbes<\/i>: \u201cFrom smart assistants like Siri and ChatGPT to more complicated applications in healthcare, banking and autonomous vehicles, AI is no longer a far-off idea but a reality of today.\u201d<\/p>\n

A reality of today. Which means, as with those long-ago Americans who had to get used to the reality of the horseless carriage (not to mention electricity, jet planes, rockets, television, computers and more!), AI is not so slowly appearing everywhere in both America and the world beyond. Not to mention just appearing but dominating the world as well, just as is so with the likes of television or computers and more.<\/p>\n

So in other words?<\/p>\n

Buckle in.<\/p>\n

Buckle in, enjoy the ride into the 21st century, and know that the reality of the AI Revolution is decidedly not a \u201cpassing fad\u201d but here to stay.<\/p>\n
