Their writers weren\u2019t young saps indoctrinated by academia-boosted French Theory with disdain for more than half the audience, or DEI hires filling a quota. They were artists who respected the world they lived in and the history they inherited, whether they liked it or not. In an article here two years ago, \u201cMidway in the Cuture War,\u201d I suggested we\u2019d just been through the societal Battle of Midway, and what remained was the counteroffensive. In this sense, I was like Clark Gable\u2019s Rhett Butler, not in looks or panache but prescience, in the best scene in <em>Gone With the Wind<\/em>, another work of art liberals want to erase (see my 2020 piece \u201cGone With the Woke\u201c).<\/p>\n<div>\n<blockquote>\n<p>\u201cWho specifically is the a-hole who added DEI lies to Academy Awards eligibility instead of it just being about making the best movie?\u201d<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<\/div>\n<p>The scene comes early in the picture, with nearly every male aristocrat at a spectacular Southern barbecue clamoring for war against the North, with utter contempt for the enemy. \u201cThe situation\u2019s very simple \u2014 the Yankees can\u2019t fight and we can.\u201d \u201cThey\u2019ll just turn and run every time.\u201d \u201cOne Southerner can lick twenty Yankees.\u201d \u201cWe\u2019ll finish them in one battle.\u201d \u201cGentlemen can always fight better than rabble.\u201d When one asks Rhett for his opinion, he lets them have it, explaining that reality will always make its presence known in the face of fantasy.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI think it\u2019s hard winning a war with words, gentlemen.\u201d \u201cAre you hinting that the Yankees can lick us?!\u201d snarls Melanie Hamilton\u2019s brother. Rhett says, \u201cNo, I\u2019m not hinting. I\u2019m stating very plainly that the Yankees are better equipped than we \u2026 All we\u2019ve got is cotton, and slaves, and arrogance.\u201d Remarks for which he almost gets challenged to a duel. I wasn\u2019t challenged to a duel or a fight for dismissing Marxist delusion decades ago \u2014 progressives lack that kind of courage and prowess \u2014 just unfriended by most of my Hollywood mates.<\/p>\n<p>I\u2019d said that their support for feminism and identity politics \u2014 in short, Democrats \u2014 was anti-art and would devour them as straight white males. The women in the group were already a lost cause. To paraphrase Melanie Hamilton\u2019s brother in <em>Gone With the Wind<\/em>, \u201cthey refused to listen to my renegade talk,\u201d so, they banned me. Then, they in turn got canceled by the very system they championed. Which turned into a woke monstrosity they couldn\u2019t control, that has burned Hollywood like Sherman did Atlanta. And is about to singe a major director and studio.<\/p>\n<p>Last week, I wrote a piece here, <em>The Hollywood Strain<\/em>, citing Christopher Nolan\u2019s folly in sacrificing <em>The Odyssey<\/em> to the woke gods. The story has exploded since then, prompting outrage akin to when <em>Bud Light<\/em> chose Dylan Mulvaney for a spokesmodel. Even Elon Musk slammed Nolan. Clearly, Nolan and Universal Pictures don\u2019t know what hit them.<\/p>\n<p>Read more <a href=\"https:\/\/nationallogisticspost.com\/?p=191\">John Cornyn\u2019s Original Sin<\/a><\/p>\n<p>After all, they were just following what they thought was the trend \u2014 replace masculine heroes with \u201ccomplicated\u201d men and girlbosses where there were none (the Emily Wilson translation), swap legendary characters and downgrade beauty (in both cases Lupita Nyong\u2019o as Helen of Troy), trying to gender swap and missing (Elliot Page as maybe Achilles or another man). They didn\u2019t read the room \u2014 or my <em>American Spectator<\/em> articles.<\/p>\n<p>Nolan began writing <em>The Odyssey<\/em> script in March 2024, adapting Emily Wilson\u2019s ghastly feminist translation. At the time, Republican frontrunner Donald Trump was facing four criminal indictments, among 91 felony counts, and more than 600 Trump supporters were in jail for the January 6th \u201cinsurrection.\u201d Hollywood counted Trump and MAGA out.<\/p>\n<p>Woke was on the rise with imminent film releases featuring alpha women and beta white men \u2014 <em>Furiosa: A Mad Max Saga<\/em>, <em>Snow White<\/em>, <em>Tron: Ares<\/em>, etcetera \u2014 and a black Captain America in <em>Captain America: Brave New World<\/em>. A manly mythic hero whose cunning protects his men and rescues his wife and son from interlopers was anathema. Forget his 2,000-plus years as one of the most famous characters in all literature, and men and women looking for such a hero.<\/p>\n<p>Two years later, everything has changed, except Hollywood. DEI is dying everywhere, except Hollywood. In the real world, last week, Trump went to China accompanied by an army of white male business leaders and only two women, Jane Fraser of Citi and Dina Powell McCormick of Meta. The same toxic males and regressive women who sank <em>Snow White<\/em>, <em>Tron<\/em>, and <em>Captain America<\/em> will do the same to <em>Universal<\/em> and <em>The Odyssey<\/em>. The blowback has started.<\/p>\n<p>Finally realizing this, to their horror, a few days ago, <em>Variety<\/em> published an article following the standard stupid policy of blasting the anti-woke complainers \u2014 people who would gladly go see a resourceful Odysseus, a masculine Achilles, and the beautiful white Helen of Troy that Homer described, not a black substitute, a signal to the diversity tribunal. The article headline said it all, <em>\u2018The Odyssey\u2019: Why Elon Musk and His Troll Army\u2019s Attacks Aren\u2019t Just Silly but Wildly Inaccurate<\/em>. Musk, in fact, did perfectly attack the Hollywoke Strain that destroyed Hollywood and will kill <em>The Odyssey<\/em>.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWho specifically is the a-hole who added DEI lies to Academy Awards eligibility instead of it just being about making the best movie?\u201d he tweeted.
