The voices inside the heads of Massachusetts jurors, unfortunately, come in loud and clear for anyone else who lives in the Northeast. The sane among us learn to squelch them.

Read more The Lesson of 9/11

Earlier this summer, Massachusetts Governor Maura Healey legalized third-trimester abortions in a signing ceremony flanked by smiling, ghoulish, white women. A Massachusetts jury stacked with that very demographic legalized fourth-trimester abortions last week. (RELATED: The Demonic Possession of Liberal Women)

Unlike the first three trimesters, which each roughly approximate three months, the fourth trimester extends for the period after which the child passes through the birth canal. The gender solidarity that has long rationalized abortion now extends to child-murder, i.e., fourth-trimester abortions. Susan Smith, Andrea Yates, and Diane Downs rank as a few of the more famous pioneers of the practice. Unfortunately for them, they lacked Kevin Reddington as a lawyer and barren, bitter Bay State women as the jury of their peers. (RELATED: Lindsay Clancy, Motherhood, and a Culture That Has Forgotten Sacrifice)

Lindsay Clancy, a mom of Cora, 5, Dawson, 3, and Callan, 8 months, murdered these three children nearly four years ago by ligature strangulation in her Duxbury, Massachusetts, home after she sent out her husband to pick up her medication. Like nearly all triple murderers, she suffered from various mental problems as recognized by formal and informal diagnoses and various prescriptions to include Klonopin, Zoloft, and Seroquel. Unlike nearly all triple murderers, Clancy received sympathy rather than a sentence.

From the Salem Witch Trials of the 1690s to the ascendance of the Know Nothing Party during the 1850s to the Watch and Ward Society during the early 20th Century to 1980s clowns patrolling suburban neighborhoods in white vans in search of children to abduct to that decade’s molestation scare that sent the innocent Amiraults to prison in the Fells Acres Daycare case, Massachusetts history overflows with hysteria overwhelming common sense.

Read more America Has Not Learned the Right Lessons From Charlie Kirk’s Murder

The specific hysteria that refused to judge a woman who murdered her three children guilty owes to a simplistic mindset that sees women as victims without agency and thus excuses any horrors they commit as attributable to some external factor — the patriarchy, mental illness, drugs, the struggle (which, as so many remind us, is real). So marinated in this narcissistic and warped ideology, the jury of Clancy’s peers imagine a grown adult woman as forever the “victim” — even when she murders the tiny, defenseless humans who depend upon her.

The fantasists who imagined a massive frame-up of Karen Read, eventually acquitted in 2025 of the accusation that she angrily and drunkenly hit her policeman-boyfriend with her car before fleeing the scene, reconvened for the Clancy trial. With Read, this crowd theorized, without any compelling evidence, that John O’Keefe’s policeman buddies murdered him. With the more recent case, the internet sleuths determined that not Clancy but her husband — despite the fact that Lindsay Clancy admitted that she had murdered her own children — killed the kids. And those kids — Cora, Dawson, and Callan — rank as the latest but not last victims of this local sickness.

As with the Read case, Clancy’s enthusiasts turned fatality into festivities outside of the courthouse. And at least one of the “Free Karen Read” supporters made her way into the jury box. Kellie Farina participated in a Free Karen Read Facebook group in which she called a policeman a “POS” and reacted to last year’s verdict: “Massachusetts Jury did their rightful duty today. Karen’s FREE.”

That juror issued the astounding complaint to local television that the lone juror holdout, a man, “had the hardest time getting over the fact that Lindsay viciously killed her children.” So did so many of us following the trial.

Read more Five Quick Things: Promises, Promises

READ MORE from Daniel J.
