President Trump\u2019s \u201cBoard of Peace\u201d (BoP) announcement that a deal had been made with Hamas whereby it would disarm in return for an Israeli withdrawal from the Gaza Strip is a perfect example.<\/p>\n<p>Read more <a href=\"https:\/\/nationallogisticspost.com\/?p=1285\">Only Real Men Can Save America, and Hollywood<\/a><\/p>\n<p>Israeli withdrawal from Gaza is not a new concept. It goes back to the \u201cGaza Disengagement\u201d of 2005 which was a unilateral action by Israel that involved evacuation of twenty-one settlements in Gaza and four in the West Bank. Beginning on August 15 and completed by September 12, 2005, it was comprised of a removal of about 9,000 Israelis.<\/p>\n<div>\n<blockquote>\n<p>Mr. Trump may not realize that he is repeating the mistakes of other administrations.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<\/div>\n<p>The \u201cPalestinians\u201d repaid the Israelis on October 7, 2023 by their genocidal Hamas attack on Israeli citizens which took about 1,200 lives and seized about 250 hostages. The war between Israel and Hamas that resulted is still going on.<\/p>\n<p>While President Trump said that the BoP agreement will result in disarming Hamas and the other terrorists in the Gaza Strip (e.g., Palestinian Islamic Jihad, the Popular Front for Liberation of Palestine, and others), it simply won\u2019t happen. Hamas won\u2019t disarm for several well-established reasons.<\/p>\n<p>First and foremost, because Hamas\u2019s bosses are in Tehran and the ayatollahs are trying to escalate the war between Iran and the U.S. They are firing missiles at U.S. bases, particularly in Jordan and have also struck at Egypt, which is a new step they have taken in recent days. Will the Iranians try to close the Suez Canal? They might do just that.<\/p>\n<p>The Iranians are also arming and escalating the Houthis \u2014 who they also control \u2014 stepping up the Houthis\u2019 hope of blocking the Red Sea to Saudi (and others\u2019) oil shipments.<\/p>\n<p>The Strait of Hormuz remains nearly closed while the Iranians insist on controlling it. We, in the meantime, have re-imposed a blockade on Iran\u2019s ports.<\/p>\n<p>Tehran won\u2019t let Hamas disarm even if they wanted to, which they don\u2019t, because their ideology requires the eradication of Israel. They also won\u2019t disarm because by so doing it would give up its control of the Gaza Strip. Hamas was elected to govern the Strip in 2006 and it hasn\u2019t given up control since. Nor will it. (The thought of a \u201cnew\u201d group arising from the \u201cPalestinians\u201d to create a new government in Gaza is risible. Iran won\u2019t allow Hamas to disarm and while they don\u2019t Israel won\u2019t withdraw from Gaza. The Gaza war isn\u2019t a stalemate because Israel continues to attack Hamas, gradually killing off the people responsible for the October 7, 2023 attack. The Israelis won\u2019t quit, which is a very good thing.<\/p>\n<p>Mr. Trump has said that we want to win the war against Iran and that they will never be permitted to have nuclear weapons. He also said at a Friday cabinet meeting at Camp David, \u201cWe will be hitting them very hard \u2026 And you know at some point, they\u2019re going to say, \u2018We just can\u2019t take it anymore.\u2019\u201d He predicted that the regime will eventually \u201cpeter out.\u201d But they won\u2019t. The Iranian regime, or what\u2019s left of it, will never give up because they are fanatics.<\/p>\n<p>The increased U.S. military attacks on Iran are going to peter out because we are running out of munitions. Suppliers are faced with extended timelines to replenish our munitions. If we are to face up to those potential shortages, we cannot continue attacks at this pace. Trump has recently called off daily bombing attacks on Iran, ostensibly due to \u201cprogress\u201d in negotiations. But if they resume as the war continues into its sixth month, we may run out of bombs and missiles to punish the Iranians.<\/p>\n<p>As I have written elsewhere, we cannot stop now. We have to bring the Iranian regime to an end, which means ending their ability to function as a nation. We can bomb their bridges, power stations, missile launch sites, and more targets to bring them to their knees. But the regime has to be toppled \u2014 and the Iranian citizens restored to freedom \u2014 before this war can end.<\/p>\n<p>So where do we go from here? Apparently nowhere. Mr. Trump has said that regime change is back on the table. It wasn\u2019t on the table previously because Mr. Trump didn\u2019t make it a goal in the war. He may finally realize that it is the only goal that can end this war. But he gives no sign of it especially in celebrating the BoP\u2019s \u201cagreement\u201d which neither side will abide.<\/p>\n<p>Mr. Trump may not realize that he is repeating the mistakes of other administrations. Even Bill Clinton is saying that he tried to give the \u201cPalestinians\u201d all of Gaza and most of the West Bank but they weren\u2019t satisfied with it.
